21.12.12 - Be ready for anything and expect nothing

Tomorrow is 21.12.12. & as mentioned earlier, there has been a lot of different beliefs and opinions about this date. Instead of giving any more, I will quote my very wise and highly respected teacher Shiv Charan Singh:

"The day will pass, like many other days that have been and are yet to be.
With its various ups and downs. And lots of crazy and wonderful efforts of people to read into, and express, deep and significant meanings and insights.
Many will be inspired, others will be afraid. Some will hold their breath while others will not even notice or care.
In the western calendar the day adds up to 11 [ or 2 ]. What does this suggest? A time to be very still in your self. A chance to feel the All in the small.
To optimize the occasion we would be wise to recall the reflective nature of the universe. What is out there is also in here. Therefore taking the opportunity to use the presence of outer alignment to also bring about an inner alignment of all our sub-facets and personalities. And therefore reach through to, and listen to the call that comes from, the core of our being. Who knows what we may hear and what it will change. Be ready for anything and expect nothing, since you will only find out that you are, and will always only be, who you always have been. You will still get up the next morning and take care of your self and those around you. And that is that - be at peace with it".

Kundalini Yoga vs Hatha Yoga

“Kundalini Yoga is the original and most powerful of the twenty-two schools of yoga, all of which are beneficial. The Yoga Sutras (writings) say that what you can achieve in 12 years of Hatha Yoga, plus 6 years of Raj Yoga, plus 3 years of Mantra Yoga, plus 1 year of Laya Yoga CAN be accomplished in 1 single year of perfectly practiced Kundalini Yoga”

Kundalini Yoga is Raaj Yoga (ancient sacred yoga) and includes all 8 limbs of Patanjali’s in each complete set. This means you work on the entire spectrum of body and mind as a whole system to get an experience when practising. Instead of focusing on perfecting the posture, Kundalini Yoga uses kriyas to achieve a specific result. A Kriya is a set of exercises which includes postures, breath, sound and movement; with the purpose to raise the awareness quick and direct.

The purpose of Hatha Yoga is the same, but with the difference that it takes many years of practice to reach perfection in the posture, and about 15-20 years to raise awareness in that way. Hatha Yoga is the mastery of polarities, using static postures and with focus on perfecting them, whereas in Kundalini Yoga there are many dynamic postures with vigorous movement, combined with pranayam (breath), mantras and meditation.

Kundalini Yoga is a form of 7 different yoga-styles; among them is Hatha, Raja and Laya Yoga. Kundalini Yoga is the “Yoga of the householders”, meaning it is designed for people who have “normal” lives – So if you do not have time to sit and meditate all day long, or don’t want to wait 15-20 years to raise your awareness; Kundalini Yoga can do the work for you in less time. :)

The Beauty of Kundalini Yoga

“The beauty of Kundalini Yoga is that if you can just physically sit there, fix the automatic rhythm of your pranayam (breath control), add a creative naad (inner sound), your mind becomes focused and balanced.” – Yogi Bhajan

Kundalini Yoga is a science that was long kept secret in India since it is a very powerful form of Yoga. It was brought to the west in 1969 by a man called Yogi Bhajan, as he believed it was very much needed for the people in the west. Kundalini Yoga is more than just exercise to stimulate the body; it moves energy and gives you an energetic experience. It can be a lifestyle; eating a Yogic diet, routines on how to wake up in the morning,  how to walk, talk and be in a certain way – All to help you live your daily life in a healthier, happier and more conscious way!
Kundalini is the nerve of our soul, the energy of our consciousness. Kundalini Yoga is called the Yoga of Awareness. Awareness of that we are spiritual beings having a human experience. In Kundalini Yoga we work with body, mind and soul, which help us to become more aware of our physical, mental and emotional condition - and influence them in a positive way.
Kundalini Yoga consists of simple yogic techniques that can be enjoyed by everyone, no matter age or physical ability. It is a powerful and effective technology that uses and combines postures (asanas), movement, sound current (mantra), breath (pranayam) and meditation - with the purpose of freeing energy ( kundalini energy) in the lower body ( base of spine) and allow it to move upwards.
When we release (or awake) this kundalini energy, we become more conscious, more aware of our truth, our inner potential. Awakened Kundalini can release blockages in the mind, body and spirit; helping us to heal, nourish, and rejuvenate.

Kundalini Yoga as taught by Yogi Bhajan has many benefits. It keeps you healthy, reduces stress and tension, it gives you more energy, vitality and mental clarity. It can help to prevent burnout, increase your feeling of inner joy and peace. A regular practice of Kundalini Yoga strengthens the muscles, joints and spine, removes toxins from the body, and helps the functioning of organs, glands, blood circulation, nervous system & the immune system. Yogic breathing techniques and meditation can give us peace of mind; inner calm, balance and self-confidence.

12.12.12 - 21.12.12 & The Aquarian Age

Lately there has been a lot of talk about the upcoming winter solstice that will happen on the 21.12.12, & also about tomorrows date: 12.12.12 - & there are many different theories and beliefs about it. According to the Mayan Calender, the "Mayan Age" ends on the 21.12.12, & some people have talked about this day as "the end of the world"- others call it "the end of an era" & "the beginning of something new"- & that is how it is seen from a Yogic Point of view, with the difference that we believe that the new age called Aquarian Age started last year on the 11.11.11.
Regardless of the date; there IS a shift and transformation from The Piscean age to the Aquarian age going on, and it affects everyone.

The Piscean age was the time of technology, fast pace, and ruled by the ego (what’s in it for me) The Aquarian age that we have now entered; is the time of truth and awareness (we are spiritual beings having a human experience), a time to heal and help not only ourselves, but our brothers and sisters and the planet earth. The time has come to wake up, to go inside and find the truth, to let go of our attachments in this material world.

Our lives are changing and we both want and need to change” to survive”. Yogi Bhajan (the man who brought Kundalini Yoga to the West from India) said that there will not be enough spiritual teachers in the Aquarian age – since there will be a great search for “spirituality” with humans looking for guidance. A time of confusion, worries and challenges for many is expected, and the technology of Kundalini Yoga is a helping hand on our journey through life and our search for the truth. It is a tool that can help us become more conscious, more aware of thoughts and feelings so we can control them, instead of them controlling us. It can give us the strength needed to go inside and find the beauty and divine within; our purpose in life, so we can act and speak from the heart to become more kind, more compassionate – to become one.

Whether you are a fan of Yoga or not - take some time tomorrow to celebrate the simple, yet transformative understanding that we are all interconnected in the living system called Planet Earth, by either joining an event locally or globally, or create you own - or simply just take a few minutes & think about what YOU can do to make this world a better place ♥ ♥

Who inspires You?

I believe that inspiration can come from anywhere and anyone. I admire people who have the courage to follow their heart, people who stand up for what they believe is right for them, regardless of what others might think. I get inspired from many people, but to mention a few "famous" ones; I am a big fan of Yogi Bhajan, Shiv Charan Singh, Eckhart Tolle, Adyashanti, Osho, Paulo Coehlo, Karen Kingston,The Dalai Lama and many many more...

Eckhart Tolle has written many books, the most famous is probably "The power of Now". One of my favorite quotes comes from his book "A New Earth":

“Life will give you whatever experience is most helpful for the evolution of your consciousness. How do you know this is the experience you need? Because this is the experience you are having at the moment.”

It makes life so much easier when you think that way..don't you agree? :)
